My name is Zoë Lane.
I am a fully Qualified and Accredited Person- Centred Counsellor based in Durham, UK.
If you're searching this website, I can only wonder if you're trying to find the right Counsellor to suit you, so please let me tell you a little about myself... I am an avid movie lover- the funnier or weepier the better! I love walking with my dog, Pilates, baking & reading; preferably not all at the same time though! I find singing 80's power ballads at the top of my lungs highly liberating (try it!) and am at my most alive when talking & connecting with people.
I am exceptionally fortunate in that I absolutely love my job. I find it an enormous privilege to do this work; to forge & develop a professional relationship with my client and to be trusted with personal material & emotions in order to support my client to find their way. A huge privilege indeed.
I am part of the Bupa Network and accept Bupa referrals also, please just mention this when you contact me.
You are very welcome to contact me via email with any questions about my service. We can even arrange for a short chat over the phone to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you. You are in no way obliged to commit to my service after this, it is just an opportunity to help you on your quest to find the right person for you & your counselling journey.
It would be lovely to hear from you.
Take good care
Zoë
I'm sorry you might not be feeling great at the moment, for whatever reason that may be. Maybe you're not even sure yourself? Life can be full of ups and downs, sometimes those 'downs' can be difficult to understand, process or work through. It can help to talk, especially to someone impartial from the situation.
As a Person-centred counsellor, I believe you have within you, all you need to make it through your tough times. You are the expert on you. It is my job to skilfully work alongside you and provide you with the right environment for you to find the answers you need...
We will work at a pace that is comfortable to you and I am confident you will find me empathic and non- judgmental in order to feel comfortable to talk about and work through whatever is troubling you.
Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives or validation and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.
Counselling isn't about giving you advice, but empowering you to make your own choices.
I have experience of working with a huge range of issues, including but not limited to:
Anxiety
Depression
Low self- esteem
Struggling with self-identity
Navigating life in a Neurotypical world when Neurodivergent
Relationship issues
Work stress
Family issues
Bereavement & grief
Anticipatory grief
Terminal illness
Chronic illness
PMDD
Disability
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives you a space to discuss these problems and gain a greater understanding of what's going on there in order to move forward.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
I have a tranquil counselling room situated upstairs in a beautiful church on the outskirts of Durham city (DH1). I am not a religious based counselling service but this peaceful building provides the perfect atmosphere for safe, calm, confidential counselling sessions.
There is one flight of stairs in order to access my office.
There is a carpark with plenty of free parking on site.
